Best Rated Sheds In Fredericksburg and Northern Virginia

What makes a Stafford Nursery Storage Shed superior to other Virginia Sheds, Garages and Buildings on the market……..

Lifetime Architectural shingles – Standard:

Architectural ShinglesLimited Lifetime Warranty on GAF ELK Shingles… The Industry standard is to use a regular 3 Tab shingle and in some cases with only a 25 year warranty.  Our Lifetime warranted architectural shingle will not only improve the look of your shed but will also add many years of additional service to you.

Our shingles are nailed rather than stapled- most manufactures are fastening their shingles with staples, we have done intense studies on the use of nails vs staples and have found that nailed shingles have more wind resistance than staples.

About Door Construction on Storage Sheds:

Your doors are the most used part of your shed; we continually have consumers who have purchased product elsewhere and come to us and say “I have a shed that is 5 years old and my doors are falling apart.”  “Can you build a new set of doors for me?”  This is why we put a lot of effort into building a high quality door system that will last you the lifetime of your new shed.  Our theory is to do it right the first time!

All sheds come standard with a locking door handle.

Aluminum Piano Hinges – Standard on all Duratemp Sided/Heavy Duty Sheds:

piano shed door hingeThis hinge screws directly into the frame of the door and to the door jamb of the shed.  You have continuous support along the whole side of the door instead of T-hinges at 3 places, which, if not installed straight, will actually work against each other.  The piano hinge is also installed under the trim, which makes it burglar proof; most T-hinges allow you to remove 9-12 screws per door and you will have complete access to the interior of your building!

A common problem with the customary T-hinges is that they will rust, even if they are painted.  The rust will cause streaks to run down over your doors causing unsightly stains; the piano hinges will not rust due to their aluminum construction.

Another advantage for the piano hinges is that they are installed under the trim; whereas T-hinges are installed outside of the trim.  This outside installation will eventually cause your trim to rot underneath the hinges, and your doors will start to become loose and inoperable.

Heavy 2×4 Door Framing:

All standard wood door frames are built from high quality kiln dried 2×4’s set on end for better stability, unlike most door frames on the market, which are built from 2×3’s or have no frame at all.

Our 2×4 doors are guaranteed against warping; a common problem with lesser quality doors, which warp on the top or bottom exposing your valuables to moisture and/or allowing unwelcome critters or reptiles access into your shed.

Fiberglass doors:

All Heavy Duty vinyl sided sheds come standard with fiberglass doors.  These doors are finished with a polyurethane paint which is nearly indestructible after properly cured.  Our doors are cured at the factory before installation to eliminate scratching during transport.

This is a huge improvement over steel doors or vinyl sided wood doors.  The fiberglass doors have a vinyl face around the perimeter to eliminate wood rotting commonly seen on steel doors, extending the lifetime of the doors.

Stainless Steel Hinges on Steel Doors:

Our fiberglass doors on vinyl buildings come standard with a stainless steel butt hinge.  Each door has 3 hinges on each side; these hinges do not make contact with the face of your door, they are screwed directly into the door frame and the door jam of your building.  These  screws  are concealed and cannot be removed  from the outside of the structures. It is common practice to install T-hinges on the exterior face of the doors; however not all screws are directly into the door frame with this process.  By installing T-hinges on the outside of the doors, you will see rust streaks running down over your doors in as little as 3 years, even if the T-hinges are painted. Installing T-hinges to the face of your doors will also create a friction point and could eventually scratch and crack your doors.

Center Door Strips on Fiberglass Doors:

All double Fiberglass doors are standard with an aluminum closure strip in the center of the doors; this strip will seal your doors and keep moisture from entering between your doors and into the inside of your building.

Garage Doors:

All of our garage packages include a high quality raised panel steel insulated garage door with a factory pre-finished paint job.  An insulated garage door will make your door much stronger and also operate much quieter.

There are many choices for garage doors on the market today, you can buy a inexpensive non-insulated garage door, which sounds like it might fall apart every time you use it.  You may even see the old wooden garage door on the market; make sure you know what you are getting before you make a purchase!

About Floor Construction on Storage Buildings:

A very important factor to consider when you are purchasing a new storage building is how the floor is constructed.  There are as many ways to build a floor as there is to build a storage building.  Our theory is if you don’t have a great floor under your structure, your building will be useless within a matter of time!

Starting on the very bottom, there are many different grades of 4×4 runners.  Our pressure treated 4×4 runners are carefully selected to ensure your building has the proper support that needed for many years of service to you.

The next step is the floor joist system.  The floor joists run the opposite way on top of the 4×4 runners.  They are spaced either 12” or 16” on center.  We use pressure treated floor joists on all heavy duty buildings.  With many of our competitor’s pressure treated floor joists are not available or may be at an extra charge as a special order.  It only makes sense to ensure that your joists are pressure treated as they are exposed to the elements, and what good is your building if your floor rots out?

Horse Barn Base Construction:

Our horse barn bases consist of one piece of pressure treated laminated beams the entire length of the building, giving your building much more stability than beams that are pieced together with plates.

Floor Sheeting Systems:

Our standard floor sheeting on our heavy duty buildings (excludes Madison and Economy) is an engineered floor panel called Smart Floor manufactured by Louisiana Pacific.  This floor panel is one of the top of the line products in the new construction markets.  Borate pressure treatment gives this product added protection against rotting.  It is also guaranteed against insect and termite infestation.  Smart floor is backed by a 5 year manufactures warranty.

Garage Flooring System:

Our standard garage floor system consists of 2X4 Pressure treated joists spaced every 12” on center.  There is a pressure treated 2×6 installed on an angle at the front to deflect water from entering into the garage.  Directly behind that there is a double pressure treated 4×4 installed for more strength at the point of impact when pulling into the garage.

Garage Floor Sheeting:

Our garage packages include a ¾” thick tongue and groove engineered floor panel called Smart Floor manufactured by Louisiana Pacific.  This Floor Panel is one of the top of the line products in the new construction markets. Borate pressure treatment gives this product added protection against rotting, it is also guaranteed against insect and termite infestation.  Smart floor is backed by a 5 year manufactures warranty.

Pressure treated ¾” plywood is also available for garage floors upon request at no additional charge.

Interior Lumber Quality on Heavy Duty Buildings:

We take special care on how the interior of your building will look and to ensure that you will have a structurally sound building for many years of use.  The go the extra mile to ensure that you have a top grade lumber in your building by using grade stamped material only. All lumber used is kiln dried. Make sure that you are seeing what your are buying before you purchase; there are many low grades of lumber available on the market which are often used that include dry rot, termite infestation, large knots, dirty lumber, moldy lumber, split lumber, or large pieces of bark on 2×4’s or high moisture content that will bow very quickly after opening the bundles. The quality of lumber we use is rarely even found at Lumber Yards.

Double Studded Corners and Wall Plates:

All heavy duty buildings are standard with double top wall plates for structural support. The corners of the top wall plates are interlocking to ensure greater structural stability.  Compare to only 1 wall plate!

All heavy duty buildings are standard with double corner studs for added stability.  Compare to single studded corners!

All heavy duty buildings are standard with 16” on center, 2×4 construction; compared to 24” on center and in some cases, 2×3 construction.

All Nailed Construction:

All of our structural components are nailed instead of stapled, ensuring you tight construction that will stay together.  All nails that are exposed to the elements consist of hot dipped galvanized coating to ensure you many years of rust free exterior.

Wood Siding Choices (T-111 Type):

Our preferred choice of wood panel sidings is called Smart Side, manufactured by Louisiana Pacific. This is an engineered OSB based product with an exterior composite finish pressed in wood grain, the interior is backed with a textured coating for a clean interior look.  Smart Side is insect and termite proof.  Smart Side is backed by a 50 year manufacturers warranty against face defects and delaminating (EXCEPTION) Madison and Economy buildings do not have interior coating and do not carry the 50 year warranty.

Our other siding choice is called Duratemp.  This product is a Fir plywood based product with a pressed hardboard exterior face.  This is the preferred product for our customers who want a plywood siding.

Both of these products are identical on the exterior with a beautiful rustic wood grain finish and will repaint very easily.  They should both be repainted every 8 to 10 years.  Please specify which siding is your choice, as each sales lot has there standard siding products for their location depending on the geographical location. We do not use the old style T-111 which will check and delaminate over a period of time.  The old style T-111 will dry out causing the face of it to become very rough and eventually act as a wick to moisture which will deteriorate the product.

Composite Trim on Duratemp Sided Buildings:

The composite trim used on our duratemp sided buildings has proven to outlast the regular wooden 1×3 trim by many years.  This is an engineered trim that is compressed with resins.  The beautiful wood grain appearance will complement your duratemp building.  A standard wood trim may rot away in as little as 5 years.

Board and Batten Siding:

We have experimented with many types of pine boards for our rustic board and batten buildings, and have found that many of these products do not meet our high standards of quality requirements.  Some of the problems we have encountered were large knots in the boards that would actually fall out as the product dried and boards that would actually split and you could see daylight from the inside of the building through those splits.  We have found, and are currently solely using a white pine product that meets our quality standards.  This product is produced in Western Canada.  It is a kiln dried product and we have had great success with it.

Cedar Siding:

Cedar is the most durable exterior wood available on the market; however there is an art to drying and installing it properly.  All cedar that we use is properly dried before installation.  If cedar is not dry when installed or installed improperly, you will see huge gaps at the splices and the overlaps as it dries out.  Our teams have years of experience working with cedar wood.

Vinyl Siding:

All of our vinyl siding that we use comes standard with a lifetime warranty.  Be aware that there are many cheap imitations on the marker today! It simply does not pay to skimp on the quality of product used! Our siding is guaranteed against fading. It is made entirely of PVC, there are no cheap additives to this product.

Vinyl Coated Wood Grain Trim on Vinyl Buildings:

All of our vinyl sided buildings are standard with coated wood grain aluminum trim.  This product is great looking and is much stronger than the regular aluminum trim.  Therefore, it will not buckle and/or bubble as easily as the regular aluminum trim.

All the edges are double bent to avoid buckling.  This process makes your trim much stronger and will eliminate the chances of buckling with varying weather conditions. Our vinyl coated product also has more color fading resistance than the flat aluminum that is commonly used.

Paint and Stain Applications:

All of our solid latex stain colors of paint are backed by a 6 year warranty on the finish.  Since 1984, we have used, with great success, a high quality paint manufactured by Haley paints; assuring you peace of mind that we do not use factory closeout or cheap brand paints.

All buildings come standard with 2 coats of paint.  The paints that we use are more fade resistant than most products available on the market.

Board and Batten Stain or Paint Applications:

All board and batten sided buildings are stained or painted before the battens are installed.  The battens are stained before installation to eliminate unstained wood as the product dries out.  After the building is completed, the entire building is again painted or stained.  Common practice is to complete the building and then paint or stain the finished product; however if this procedure is used, you will see bare wood on each side of the battens as the product goes through its normal drying period.

Roof Pitch or Roof Designs:

Roof pitch (the steepness of a roof) or roof designs is what gives your structure the architectural appeal.  We have a large variety of roof pitches and designs to compliment your personal taste.

Roof Overhangs:

Many of our high end buildings are standard with roof overhangs.  These structures will add an eye pleasing appearance to your new structure.

Overhangs can also be added to any of our standard buildings.

Engineer Approved Construction:

All heavy duty buildings are built to national building code specifications; we have engineer approved blue prints available for all heavy duty buildings, ensuring you peace of mind for solid construction.

We can assist you with special wind load and snow load requirements.

We can also assist you with plans for public or commercial buildings and even restroom designs.

We are able to assist you with plans for over riding frost footer requirements on portable buildings.

Non combustible flooring is available for municipalities that require non combustible floors in portable garages.

Although the components used in your building are backed by top of the line warranties; these warranties are only as good as the workmanship that goes into your new structure.  This is why we have a 6 year top to bottom, inside to outside workmanship warranty on all of our heavy duty structures.  This warranty is provided to you in writing in a real certificate form.

Finance and Layaway:

You can order a structure at any time and place it on our convenient layaway plan.

If you prefer, you can also use one of our many finance options, including interest free financing for a specified period of time; or enjoy our low fixed finance rate for the life of the loan (financing pending approval).
